A few days ago I posted a of six men's shirts. I took time to cut them apart and then cut them in to 6" squares. Most of the shirts were a size XL. It is amazing how much fabric once cut apart I had to work with. To add some variety, I decided to throw in some kona that I had in my stash and make a trip around the world quilt. 255 Blocks later, it is all sewn together waiting for backing, quilting and binding. I think I might back it in some navy flannel to make it extra cozy.
Here is a picture of Selene running around the yard while I take pictures of the quilt top. We were having a lot of fun! And no, nothing surprises our neighbors. We are always taking some sort of photo. ;o)

Bloggers Quilt Festival Entry
I am showcasing another doll quilt as my entry in to the Bloggers Quilt Festival. I made this little beauty for the 11th round of Doll Quilt Swap. In this round we were challenged to get back to our roots and use more traditional blocks. I decided to torture challenge myself to do some extra small piecing. My partner loved log cabins and the colors red, white and aqua, so I went to work on this quilt.
First I pieced 30 1 1/2" log cabin blocks. Insanity right? Perhaps! LOL! I did learn that you need to have a very sharp blade on your rotary cutter. You also need to be able to accurately cut each one of the logs. I think next time I will foundation piece them. That might make things a tad bit easier.
30 Blocks!! With each block I made, I became more and more excited. Things were coming together nicely. I left them out on the counter in a small dish so I could admire them throughout the day. I liked holding them in my hands and feeling the texture of the logs sewn together.
Here is the top. I chose to use a different layout instead of the traditional layout for log cabins. It was a bit of a bear to put together! It was a challenge to get things to line up correctly. Once it was complete,I decided to add a border to it and then quilt it in a slanted pattern. This winter I am going to have to make one for myself. After all that work, I became quite attached to this litle gem. My partner was so excited and appreciative. I'm glad she went to a good home.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I hope you come back soon for another visit!!
Trim the Tree Ornament Swap Inspiration
Another cool swap! Take a look at all of the wonderful ornaments made by other flickr members. There are some really talented people out there and I am going to have fun drawing on their inspiration. I'll be back on Monday with some samples of what I'm going to be making for my partners. I'm pretty sure that I will be using felt....
The SavVy { Seasons } Inspiration Mosaic
I can't believe that it is November already. Although I am sad to see summer go, I am looking forward to the holiday season. In 2011, I decided to participate in fewer swaps. Although swapping was fun, I was getting a bit overwhelmed particiapating in too many. Plus, I was spending so much time on swaps, I wasn't making anything for us. The SavVy {Seasons} swap is one I couldn't resist. I can't wait to start making a few things to brighten our home for the holidays.
